Carol especially enjoys paintings dogs because they are such pals; whether taking over the sofa, charging through puddles or just being the natural born comics that they are.
Due to the nature of my work I paint from photographs. It is vital that the images capture the personality of the sitter to achieve an informal, composed painting. If it is not possible to meet I can undertake a painting from their personal photo collection but must have good quality close-ups, especially of the eyes.
I work on canvas over-painting thin layers of oil, slowly building up the image, close cropping with a solid background of vibrant colour.
Timescales to the produce a painting depend on the scale and complexity – anything from 6 weeks to 8 weeks. My paintings are best left unframed.
